Thoughts to ponder as I blog my way into 2014.
I recently saw a humorous list of people who had facebook’d or tweete’d about the new year –
“Happy 2014th birthday world!”
Or, “Wow…I can’t believe America is over 2000 years old!”
A brief pause here to insert the facepalm of despair…
Wow. Easy to laugh and feel secure in my own intellectual superiority
(whats that you say? explain basic math to you?…..ummm..ummm…HEY! LOOK AT THAT! *runs away…*)
but it started me thinking, is this how people get their information? Through snippets, tweets, and ecards? In so called motivational postings?
Instead of newspapers, news reports on tv.,books, etc. will the next thing be “News Shotz”?
Are we starting to only be capable of processing items in short bursts?
If so, there is a whole generation that will be soon expressing their emotions exclusively in grumpy cat and firmly believe that Ryan Gosling actually makes all those “hey girl” statements. (“Ooohh, he’s so deeeep…” swoon)
When did our attention spans shrink? And why? Is there simply too much information to handle? What do you think? Notes on a short postcard please…
